Alibaba put a new AI chip and a power target on the table on the same day. The power target is the bigger number.

  • T-Head, Alibaba’s chip unit, unveiled the Zhenwu V900 with 216 GB of memory and 1,200 GB/s of inter-chip bandwidth.
  • It claims three times the performance of the M890, which shipped in May. No public benchmark exists to check that.
  • More than 1,000 chips can act as one supernode through T-Head’s ICN Switch. A cluster can reach 500,000 accelerators.
  • Release is set for the first quarter of 2027.
  • Alibaba Cloud targets more than 20 gigawatts of global data center capacity by 2032, against 380 billion yuan committed over three years and no price attached to the power.
