Nutanix Move 6.3.3 removes the VMware VDDK from ESXi migrations, weeks after Broadcom pulled the download the tool depended on.

  • Broadcom stopped publishing the VMware VDDK in August 2026, and Nutanix Move had read source disks through that library.
  • Move 6.3.3 adds DirectPath, which attaches source-disk snapshots and copies data straight to Nutanix AHV.
  • The Move appliance now runs inside the source VMware environment and needs NFS reach to every target controller VM on ports 111 and 2049.
  • It installs as a new appliance only. There is no upgrade into 6.3.3 or out of it yet.
  • Support covers ESXi 6.5 through 8.0 Update 3 and vCenter up to 9.0.

The migration workflow itself is unchanged, which is the point. Read the full analysis here.
