Google put its flagship reasoning model on general release on October 13, and it gave the price an end date.

  • Gemini 4 Argon costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens on the Gemini API through November 30, then $4 and $20 from December 1. Cached input goes from $0.10 to $0.20.
  • The context window is one 1,048,576-token budget that input and output share, not two separate pools.
  • Reasoning tokens are billed at the output rate, and Google charges every intermediate input and reasoning token generated inside agent loops.
  • At launch rates Argon sits in the value tier of the frontier market. From December it moves to a premium rate, on a schedule you can put in a calendar.
  • Google also published a 2.85x serving speedup on the open Gemma 4 model through vLLM on an A100, and contributed the changes upstream.
